Extend PoE Beyond 100 Meters: A 1-in / 4-out Gigabit PoE Extender for Large Security Projects

Posted by Philip su on

When camera, access-control, wireless, or perimeter-security projects push beyond the 100-meter Ethernet limit, the POE-EX2005-4H helps extend both network data and PoE power without adding a local AC outlet.

Why project teams use a 1-in / 4-out PoE extender

A single upstream PoE run feeds the POE-EX2005-4H. From there, four downstream PoE ports can serve compatible IP cameras, wireless access points, or other PoE endpoints. This reduces the need to pull four separate long home-run cables back to the network closet.

For large enterprise campuses, multi-building facilities, warehouse deployments, parking areas, and security upgrades, fewer long cable runs can reduce material, pathway, and labor costs. The compact unit supports Gigabit Ethernet and plug-and-play operation, so installers do not need to configure software before commissioning.

Installation diagram

   POE-EX2005-4H — PoE IN
     ├── PoE OUT 1 ── IP camera / AP / endpoint — up to 100 m / 328 ft
     ├── PoE OUT 2 ── IP camera / AP / endpoint — up to 100 m / 328 ft
     ├── PoE OUT 3 ── IP camera / AP / endpoint — up to 100 m / 328 ft
     └── PoE OUT 4 ── IP camera / AP / endpoint — up to 100 m / 328 ft

The extender adds up to 328 ft of reach per Ethernet segment. Place it where each individual cable segment remains within the recommended 100-meter limit. It is powered over PoE, helping avoid a separate electrical outlet at the installation point.

Designed for demanding project environments

• Gigabit Ethernet: Helps maintain high-speed network connectivity for compatible endpoints.
• 1 PoE input / 4 PoE outputs: Expands one upstream run into four endpoint connections.
• 6 kV surge protection: Adds resilience for installations where surge protection is part of the project design.
• Plug and play: Auto-negotiation simplifies on-site deployment.
• Wall mounting: Supports a tidy, practical installation in equipment rooms, cabinets, and field locations.

Government and enterprise projects

The POE-EX2005-4H is manufacturer-declared NDAA compliant. It can be evaluated for government, education, courthouse, transportation, and enterprise-security projects where NDAA-compliant equipment is required. Always confirm the latest compliance documentation, buyer requirements, and project specifications before procurement.

Plan the PoE budget before installation

Available output power and total reach depend on the PoE source, cable quality and length, and the connected loads. Before deployment, confirm that the upstream source can supply the combined power required by all endpoints and that each device is compatible with the PoE standard in use.
