How to Set Up a Long-Distance NET-WB610H One-to-Multipoint Wireless Bridge

Publicado por Philip su en

Need to connect a main building to a distant gate, warehouse, camera pole, or other remote location without trenching new Ethernet cable? A NET-WB610H one-to-multipoint wireless bridge network can extend an IP connection across a large property using one bridge in Main mode and up to eight bridges in Slave mode.

This guide explains how to plan, pair, align, and verify a NET-WB610H outdoor wireless bridge deployment for long-distance security and network applications.

What is a one-to-multipoint wireless bridge?

A one-to-multipoint wireless bridge uses one central Main bridge to communicate with several remote Slave bridges. For example, the Main unit can be mounted on an operations building while Slave units serve a vehicle gate, a detached warehouse, a parking area, or a perimeter camera location.

The NET-WB610H supports 5 GHz outdoor bridge links and can be used for point-to-point or point-to-multipoint deployment. The product specification lists wireless performance up to 300 Mbps and a range of up to 5 km under suitable clear line-of-sight conditions. Actual performance depends on distance, mounting height, alignment, interference, terrain, weather, and local conditions.

NET-WB610H one-to-multipoint layout

  • Main bridge: Install one NET-WB610H at the central building with a clear view of every remote site.
  • Slave bridges: Install one NET-WB610H at each gate, warehouse, camera pole, or remote network location.
  • Maximum remote bridges: One Main bridge can connect to as many as eight Slave bridges.
  • Channel pairing: Set every Slave bridge to the same LED letter or number as its Main bridge.
  • Site separation: Main bridges operating within the same coverage area should use different LED channel values to reduce pairing conflicts.

Before installation

  1. Confirm that the Main bridge can see every remote bridge location without buildings, trees, signs, or terrain blocking the path.
  2. Choose solid wall or pole mounting points above common obstructions and moving vehicles.
  3. Plan power and Ethernet connections at each endpoint. The NET-WB610H supports 24 V 1 A PoE input or 12 V 1 A DC input.
  4. Pair and test the bridges at short range before installing them at their final locations.
  5. Record the selected LED channel so every Slave can be configured consistently.

Step 1 Set the central bridge to Main mode

  1. Power on the NET-WB610H selected for the central building.
  2. Move the operating-mode switch to the left position.
  3. Wait until the LED display lights and shows a letter or number.
  4. Press the channel button briefly to change the displayed letter or number.
  5. Record the selected value. Every Slave bridge in this network must use the same value.

Reset: Long-press the channel button when a bridge needs to be reset.

Step 2 Set each remote bridge to Slave mode

  1. Power on the NET-WB610H selected for the remote endpoint.
  2. Move its operating-mode switch to the right position.
  3. Wait for the red LED character and the red dot at the lower-right of the display.
  4. Press the channel button briefly until the displayed letter or number matches the Main bridge.
  5. Repeat the process for every additional Slave bridge.

Step 3 Align the bridges for long-distance performance

Alignment matters more as distance increases. Use the Main bridge as the center of the coverage pattern and point the face of each Slave bridge toward it.

  • Keep Slave bridges within approximately 30 degrees horizontally to the left or right of the Main bridge centerline.
  • Keep Slave bridges within approximately 15 degrees vertically above or below the Main bridge centerline.
  • Maintain clear line of sight and avoid placing metal structures, dense foliage, or other obstacles in the wireless path.
  • Use stable mounts and tighten the pole clamps only after the final alignment is confirmed.

Step 4 Connect and test the network

  1. Connect the Main bridge to the central network switch or router.
  2. Connect each Slave bridge to its remote device or remote network switch.
  3. Verify that all bridges display the intended matching channel.
  4. Test connectivity at every remote location.
  5. If a link is unstable, recheck line of sight, mounting height, bridge orientation, interference, cabling, and power before changing other settings.

Where a NET-WB610H multipoint bridge is useful

  • Building-to-gate access control and intercom connectivity
  • Remote IP camera and video surveillance links
  • Warehouse-to-office network extension
  • Parking lot, farm, park, construction site, and scenic-area networking
  • Perimeter security locations where trenching fiber or copper is impractical

Frequently asked questions

How many Slave bridges can connect to one NET-WB610H Main bridge?

The setup guide specifies a maximum of eight Slave bridges for one Main bridge.

Do all NET-WB610H units use the same channel?

All Slave bridges assigned to one Main bridge should use the same LED letter or number as that Main bridge. Separate Main bridge networks operating in the same area should use different values.

Can NET-WB610H connect a building to a gate?

Yes. A common design places the Main bridge on the building and a Slave bridge at the gate. Additional Slave bridges can connect a warehouse, camera pole, or another remote network location when each endpoint has clear line of sight to the Main bridge.

How far can NET-WB610H reach?

The product specification lists up to 5 km in suitable clear line-of-sight installations. Real-world distance and throughput vary with alignment, interference, mounting height, terrain, weather, and other site conditions.

What happens if the LED channels do not match?

A Slave bridge must be set to the same LED letter or number as its Main bridge. If the values differ, correct the channel setting and test the link again.
